An active artist for over 30 years, Paula Lalala explores the way context shapes our experience of art. Her project oriented practice oscillates between a private inward journey and outward investigations which involve other artists and the wider public. She has presented her own work, which incorporates a vast range of media and public participation, internationally in galleries, museums and public spaces. Additionally, she has been curating art shows since 1992 and has facilitated exhibition of work by hundreds of artists, many of whom are internationally acclaimed and celebrated.
In 2005 Paula generated a body of work entitled “Psychological States And Healing States” which included depictions of nature based imagery. This work was initially exhibited in a group show, “Salon”, curated by Greg Mink, and installed at Bellevue Hospital Center. These two events led to a number of projects concerned with nature-based images and placement of work into healing arts locations. Art For Healing Environments is the newest evolution of this part of Paula’s artistic practice.
